Chunky Journals

Love this journal. It is the perfect size, seems well made, results in minimal ghosting, and does not bleed. Very expensive once shipping and handling are added, but since journaling is my only vice, I consider it an affordable addiction.

I really wanted to love this journal, but it wasn't meant to be. And it's unfortunate because they are very expensive. Hobonichi prices with Walmart quality. Even Walmart has better journals than this though. I give it 2 stars instead of 1 because it's difficult to find a 2mm journal that isn't notebook paper sized or has almost no pages. So cheers for meeting a need. However, this journal is so cheaply made it's incredible. I bought the hardcover B6 2mm with 1000 pages. While the binding of the pages against the backing appears solid, I can't believe the book is just floating near the spine, unattached except for the flimsy glued sheet of paper on the inside of each cover. So once that piece of paper rips, which is easy for a journal so large, and mine slightly ripped just from trying to get it out of a cover I realized wouldn't work, now the journal is ruined. The cover is hard and scratchy fabric glued to a thick cardboard-like cover. Lastly, and completely my fault, I can't use the 2mm grid as it's nearly microscopic compared to the hobonichi grid. And between my eyesight and huge writing, I was delusional in thinking I could make this work. I watched the seller write in this journal for months before purchasing. And now I'm out $60+ after shipping with absolutely no intentions of using this journal because I'm afraid for it to finish falling apart, I can't stand the feel of the outside, and the grid size plays with my eyes and makes me feel dizzy. Lesson learned. I'd suggest anyone considering purchasing this to seriously consider finding someone who has one and checking it out before purchase without the glitz and glam of beautiful covers, amazing handwriting, and cute stickers to distract from the bare minimum manufacturing that is this journal. I have better journals from the dollar store. Not as thick, definitely not 2mm, but higher quality for sure... Except the tomoe river paper. But that's changed now and the page I wrote on had severe ghosting using a pen that I use for my hobonichi with no problem. So there you go, another expense to go along with this over-priced clunk of a journal. I'm highly disappointed and it takes a lot of nerve for the seller to charge hobonichi prices for a journal that looks like the result of a lesson given at a craft store. Unreal. I'm super pissed. As a matter of fact... I just changed the review back to 1 star. It's not worth 2.
